Hi German kite brothers
Here some post to remind you all about Cumbuco and its magic windy conditions. We're looking forward to see you around this season too!.

Friday at 11h, SE 12 kts, turning ESE at 12h and up to 16-18 kts, it stayed so until 15h and then up to almost 20 kts to go down again at 16h 30 to some 14-16 kts and so until dark.
The kite scene raemains quiet, unless for a couple of riders in front of Golfinho and a couple more down direction Eco.
This year, due to the lack of rain, the lagoons of Icarai (Barra Nova) and Taiba (barra do rio Sao Goncalo) have kept their water volume and considering that there's barely a month left for the wet season to end, it seems that the kite crew will have guarantee the ride on both lagoons, (Cauipe too, of course). Saturday started sunny after the strongest night showers of the whole wet season, together with heavy SE winds, the scene at 11 am in Golfinho was, blue skies and SE 10-14 kts, at 12h 30, ESE (side shore) and 20 kts, during the day some cloud formations coming from SE made the wind accelerate, sometimes up to 26 kts but mostly between 18 and 22 kts until 16h that went down to 14-16 kts and so until dark.
Sunday again sunny skies ans SE 8-14 kts, at 12h turning ESE and 18-22 kts, at 13h 16-18 kts and until 16h 30 that went down to 14 kts and until dark.
Monday again SE at the beggining, to turn ESE at 12h and 22 kts, at 13h 16-19 kts and so stayed most of the day until 17h that went down to 14 kts.
The tide mostly low and not too choppy until goes up, then, the shore break grows and the chop gets bigger.
Saturday we went for a kite trip to check Taiba lagoon, 22-25 kts at 14h, ESE, the water level was good and there were only brazilian locals, some 14 people, the ride was pleasant though short, about 35-40 seconds ride on each direction, the advantage, that can hold more riders than Cauipe (where the ride is not transversal but at the full lenght).
Soon the Prefeitura of Caucaia will start to make a register of all kite schools on our area, (as well as any other enterprise, such as restaurants, bars, pousadas, hotels of Cumbuco-Tabuba), to achieve that (compulsory) registration for the kite schools, there have been several kite meetings together with the Secretaria de Cultura e Deportes do Governo do Estado with all the people dedicated to give kite lessons, whether privately or kite school owners, where have been set some rules to be followed and some points interesting the security procedures of teaching.
It will be delivered by the Secretaria a stamp of security (Quality of Teaching) to all the participants that after taking a short course of first aids, will implement the rules and advices that were set in this kite meetings.
From this lines, I invite to all people dedicated to kite teaching on our area (Cumbuco-Cauipe), interested into getting such stamp, to contact me, or the Asociacao do Kitesurf Cearense, in order to update and participate of all this activities. Cheers. CRIS

Tuesday started with SE, at 11h some 14-16 kts, turning ESE at around 12h 30 and gusty, between 18 and 25 kts, at 15h, 16-18 kts and 16 kts until dark.
Wednesday at 11h ESE, 16-20 kts, at 13h, 16-18 kts and 16 kts until dark. It rained really hard during all night and until 11h morning of Thursday, the day remained cloudy and almost windless until 16h that started ESE and 14 kts, the tide low most of riding time and the water condition, almost flat.
Friday at 11h, ESE 14-16 kts, at 12h a dark cloud formation coming from ESE brought 28 kts all of a sudden and later it remained 25 kts for half hour until rain started at 13h, it lasted one hour and after was windless until 14h 30 that started again but SE (side off) and 12-13 kts until dark.

Saturday at 11h, SE (side off), 16-22 kts, a bit gusty due to the direction but quite rideable, on the outside nice rolling waves offered great ramps for ride and carve, at 14h the wind went a bit down, 14-18 kts and 12 kts at 16h and until dark.
Sunday again SE, at 11h, 12-18 kts, at 14h turned ESE and sometimes up to 20 kts, at 15h 30, 14-16 kts and so until dark.
Monday started rainy until 12h, the rest of the day remained cloudy but the wind came in around 13h, first some 12-14 kts and at 15h sometimes up to 16 kts.
Tuesday started sunny but slowly got cloudy again, the big soft grey one that covered all, at 11h, SE 12-18 kts, at 13h, down to 8-10 kts, at 14h up to 14-17 kts and at 16h still 12-16 kts until dark.
A group of Argentinian kiters chosed Golfinho for the whole week (down in Buenos Aires, the winter is starting), lately I kited just myself and a guest of The Private Guest House, from today, action on the water again.
Icarai lagoon has lost two thirds of its water volume as the local fisherman opened a chanel in the sand bar, with fishing intentions, actually the salt water in the lagoon was a bit rotten, now only wait until the sand bar closes again with the wind and the high tides in June fill it again. On sight occasionally some kite in the horizont towards Eco and in Golfinho, my neigbourgh Hacky, another fellow and myself.
The whole month tide is mid high and no shore break, some small waves breaking on the outside reef towards Tabuba on low tide and mostly flat and friendly, a bit boring actually if you live here, you have to ride big sizes or a surf board, but a cake if it is for teaching new people to kite (where are the clients this month?), the Argentinian crew moved to Cauipe every morning and that's it!
Ah, yeah! Today's arriving my pal Brian, Suntrax kite shop owner from Cape Town ZA, he's staying here for five weeks! A great chance to recall old times and perhaps try a new kite trip report.
To Cisco: Yo peso 72 k y tengo todos los tamaños, pero en la epoca en que tu vas a venir, se navega con 9 o 10 mts de mañana, a veces con 12 mts desde las 15h con 12 mts o a veces con 14. Traete las dos cometas, las pones en una bolsa y ya está, es mejor prevenir que tener que estar sentado mirando como los otros navegan por no haber traido la grande. Cheers. CRIS
