Gruss Johannes ================ WHAT’S GOING ON SIMMER NEWSLETTER N.3 2005 March 15th 2005 Maui based Simmer team rider and Maui Fin Co president Pio Marasco is back on the water after having shoulder surgery in Italy at the end of February. So far so good. Danish team rider Rob Sand left South Africa after having a fantastic season with non stop wind and waves. He'll be going to Maui on March 21 st for the Fanatic photo shoot. Despite the good conditions in South Africa Rob's not sad about leaving his wetsuit and the cold waters behind him as he heads to Maui in the next couple of days for the upcoming Fanatic photo shoot. Flykatcher Trading LLC, Simmer Style's new US distributor (run by long time Simmer rider Kai Katchadourian) has been busy networking the mainland and things are looking solid for dealers and local rippers alike that are gathering in the quest for a greater Simmer presence there. "It is an honor to be in this position " says Kai. The Mouss brothers from Marseille has had a fantastic winter so far with an average of 5 days a week with over 20 knot winds. A lot of good wave sailing days and plenty of time to test equipment. They also recently took a break to go skiing in the alps as well as attending some promotional evens in "Les 2Alps". Cyril also managed to squeeze in a trip to Cape Verde and scored 15 days of world-class wave sailing at the now legendary Punta Preta. Go to: www.moussilmani.com and check the pictures from the trip under: trips and then: Cap Vert. The Mouss brothers will be on Maui between March 20th and April 13th for the Fanatic photo shoot and the first 2005 PWA wave event of the year. Upon returning to France they will go to Leucate for the first 2005 PWA Super X event between April 18th and 26th. At the moment Ascanio D'Ascanio drops his mails from Jason Diffins house on Maui where he'll be staying for a while. Even though American Airlines lost his luggage he still managed to get the rest of the Simmer family to hook him up with some gear so he could rip Kanaha Beach Park on some recent Kona winds. He's got a back loop sequence coming up in the Surf A Vela April issue as well as his Oregon Road Trip article in the May issue so make sure to check them out. Victor Fernandez recently returned to his home-breaks in Almeria, Spain after a 3 week windsurf trip in Chile with Cheo Diaz and Brendan Pyat (Photographer). After sailing 6 different really good spots in fantastic conditions Pichilemu, a really long wave offering 8-10 bottomturns was crowned as one of the best waves he's ever windsurfed and without a doubt will return to again before long. An article about the trip will be sent out to 8 international magazines so keep your eyes and ears open. In the meantime you'll have to make do with some recent pictures of Victor getting rid of some of all that energy that only mum's homemade food can generate. New UK rider Ben Proffitt sent some more pictures from South Africa so check it out! Before heading to France for some snowboarding and to promote his jewelery brand Ruebelle, Rudy Castorina scored 2 weeks of incredible sailing on Maui, with mast high waves and 4.5m2. Rudy also made it into Planche Mag's February issue in an article called "Maui Version Roots". German based Surfer Magazine also recently published their 50th birthday celebration issue with a windsurf part featuring....... yepp that's right Simmer team rider Rudy Castorina's Indonesia travel story.
