So here we are at the start of day two from the KTA Thailand powered by GAC and it’s been a fantastic start to the event. Near perfect conditions on day one gave us a full programme of events to lead off with – three course races, freestyle and even some Old Skool. Day two is equally as nice on the wind front and our first racers are now going through out on the water.

The racing in Thailand has also seen the first outing for the new IKA race rule changes that also include the first production board sub-class registration. So a busy race scene here for sure with production board class, overall race boards and of course the all action TT Class which is as popular as ever.

Even though before the racing began we were able to make the most of the wind even on registration day with the Ably Rondina Freestyle Jam which gave invaluable input to those freestyle riders hoping to make their mark over this event.

So to the competition and in the TT racing Kin Nguyen Ngoc and Dennis Wong continued their battle for the class lead. However, new comer to the TT racing scene, Ken Nacor ( a favorite in the freestyle category) is giving Kin and Dennis a run for their money. And since anything can happen when it comes to racing, spectators are sure to be watching these results with enthusiasm. In overall racing, Yo Pudla is working hard at staying in front on his home ground and Kathrin Borgwardt continues to take 1st with what seems little effort, but if you asked her when she exited the water today she would have told you how exhausted her legs were from the 3 races! Aya Oshima continues to prove herself in the women’s TT racing class as the best in Asia!

Freestyle single elimination has been completed and we are well on the way now through the doubles. On the womens side of things Sarah Demdoum from France is leading from the single eliminator round and for the guys Tanner the Turkish champion is holding the top slot.

Meanwhile Old School was entertaining new spectators as always, being run in a less than ordinary competition format- something new the KTA is trying out, imagine that. With Toby Braeuer here to guide everyone through the new format, the importance of old school as a baseline of attraction and fun for the kitesurfing sport is apparent. Big kites, cool tricks with complex technique to tricks all about style, everyone is taking part in the old school portion of this event. You can ride around whenever you feel the conditions are right for you, no defined heat system, you can ride as long as you want, and as many times as you want. Not only the judges judge, but also the crowd and the media, promising that the old school portion is all about the show at every level.

So nice kick off Thailand and for those of you following the results then check things out here: http://www.kiteboardtour.asia
