heute im feed von OCEAN DEFENDER - Hawaii (03/12/13):

"Sad news from my home town, Maui... Today a kayaker was bitten and killed by a shark while fishing of Little beach Makena. The two kayakers were out far off shore when one was bitten. A near by boat took the injured diver to shore but he was dead by the time he got to the ramp.

Here are a few rules I LIVE BY in regards to ocean safety and being mistaken for food by any ocean creature:

1. I pray before i go in the ocean. Every single time!
2. I never snorkel/free dive/scuba/surf near a river mouth, never!
3. If the ocean does not look BLUE (or the colour i see every day on a good day), I dont get inside those waters at all or if i do, its not for long.
4. If the ocean SMELLS funny from afar, I dont go for long far swims or underwater. Or dont go at all.
5. If i dont have more than 40 feet visibility, i dont stay for long or dont go at all.
6. Do not swim out to sea. Stay near the reef areas and swim along the reef, not OUT to the blue sea."
